Easy Halloween Cake Pops
Halloween cakesicles are super easy to make and you can be really creative with a variety of spookily themed designs. Simply bake a cake and allow it to cool. Or, to keep things really simple, use a cake mix or even buy ready made cake. Crumble the cake into a bowl and mix with a small amount of buttercream to create a dough-like consistency and set aside.
For the outer coating of the cake popsicles, melt some chocolate in a glass bowl, add some food colouring (an oil or a gel are best) and coat the inside of a cake pop mould cavity with the chocolate, ensuring you cover the sides too. Put the mould in the freezer to allow to set for 10 minutes. Remove and fill three quarters of each cake cavity with the cake and buttercream mixture, fixing the stick or straw into place as you fill. Use the remainder of the melted chocolate to spread over the cake to ensure it is completely covered. Place the mould back in the freezer for at least another 10 minutes until the chocolate is set firmly.
Once out of the freezer, pop the cakesickle out of the mould and have fun with decorating - anything goes! Roll out sugar paste and cut thinly to create the mummy or ghost effect and use googly eyes or sprinkles... ghosts, pumpkins, mummies and monsters are guaranteed to both wow and terrify your guests in equal measure!
